Record Talk — Privacy Policy
What this app collects, why it collects it, and what you can ask us to delete.
Last updated: 9 September 2026
Record Talk records phone calls you place or receive through your carrier's conference/merge feature, stores those recordings for you, and — when you ask for it — transcribes, summarises, translates and answers questions about them. This policy describes exactly what the app and its backend hold, who else processes it, and how you remove it.
Who processes your data
- Record Talk (the app publisher) operates the app and its API at
api-record-calls-ios.gowalk.com.
- Twilio Inc. places and records the call leg, stores the recording audio, and sends the
one-time code that verifies your phone number.
- OpenRouter Inc. routes the AI requests (transcription, summary, action items, translation
and question answering) to the model that serves them.
- Apple and Google process your subscription purchase and return the receipt our backend
verifies. We never see your payment card.
- Google Firebase (iOS build only) provides crash reporting and aggregate usage analytics.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Where it lives | | --- | --- | --- | | Phone number | Identifies your account and the recordings that belong to it; verified by SMS code | Our database; Twilio Verify processes the code | | Call recordings (audio) and call metadata (numbers, direction, start time, duration) | The product: your recording library | Twilio storage; metadata in our database | | Transcripts, summaries, action items, translations and your questions | Features you invoke on your own recordings | Our database; sent to OpenRouter only for the request that produces them | | Your own text: titles, notes, tags, folders, follow-ups | Organising your library | Our database | | Install identifier and the app's public signing key | Authenticates this installation's API requests | Our database | | Subscription status (product id, expiry, store) | Unlocks paid features and enforces monthly allowances | Our database; verified against Apple/Google | | Platform, app version, device language | Compatibility and the minimum supported version | Our database (per install) | | Crash reports and aggregate usage events (iOS) | Fixing crashes and understanding which features are used | Firebase; not linked to your call content |
We do not collect your contacts, your location, your photos, or the device microphone. The app declares no microphone permission because the call is recorded by the service number, not by your handset.
AI processing
When you ask for a transcript, summary, translation or answer, the relevant recording audio or its transcript text is sent over TLS to OpenRouter, which forwards it to the model that serves the request, and the result is returned to our backend and stored with your recording. We send only the recording you acted on (or, for a cross-recording question, the transcript passages that match it) — never your whole library, your phone number or your account identifiers. Requests are made with our organisational API key and are not used to train models. AI runs only while your subscription is active, and each account has a monthly minute and question allowance.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. The processors above act on our instructions under contract. We disclose data otherwise only when the law compels it.
Retention and deletion
Recordings stay until you delete them. Deleting a recording removes its audio from the recording service and tombstones its row. Settings → Delete account deletes every recording held for your phone number, all transcripts, insights, notes, folders and follow-ups, and your account row. Crash reports expire on Firebase's own schedule (90 days). Backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Your rights
You can export your library as text and audio from the app, and you can delete your account from inside the app without contacting us. For any other request under GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA — access, correction, portability, objection — write to the support address on our support page and we answer within 30 days. We never sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Recording law is your responsibility
Consent requirements for recording a call differ by country and by state. You are responsible for complying with the law that applies to you and to the person you are calling. The app shows this notice before the first recording.
Children
Record Talk is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Security
All traffic uses TLS. Every API request from the app is signed with a per-install Ed25519 key. Sessions are short-lived and refreshed. The database is reachable only from the application container. Access to production is restricted to the operators who maintain it.
Changes
Material changes appear here with a new date, and in the app before they take effect.
